LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Here are some fun ideas for everyone.
Methodist Family Health Walk for Children and Families at Big Dam Bridge, Friday, Aug. 3, 7 p.m.
Former Razorback quarterback Clint Stoerner chairs the sixth annual walk to benefit Methodist Family Health. This year's funds will benefit the Methodist Behavioral Hospital in Maumelle, and will be used to purchase new bed and dresser sets for rooms.
Registration begins at 6 p.m. on the North Little Rock side of the bridge; the walk begins at 7 p.m. Visitors can enjoy live music, pizza and ice cream. Awards will be presented to individuals and groups who raise the most money.
Price: $20, families $50
Lamanpalooza at William F. Laman Public Library, Friday, Aug. 3, 5-8:30 p.m.
Toast the end of the Summer Reading Program in a library-wide celebration that includes games, fair food like hot dogs, snow cones and funnel cakes, and prizes. Hear Marshall Mitchell perform tunes for the younger set from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Then dance to classic rock and pop anthems played by cover band, The Rockets.
TinkerFest at the Museum of Discovery, Saturday, Aug. 4, 1-4 p.m.
Crafty kids with a knack for building gadgets won't want to miss the Museum of Discovery's inaugural TinkerFest. The festival will focus on the art of tinkering, in which inquisitive young minds experiment in a workshop full of tools and doo-dads. Local makers will share off the fruits of their tinkering: Recycle Bikes for Kids will demonstrate various bicycle repairs; artisans will turn junk into jewelry; plus, kids will learn about programs that create 3-D objects from paper and other materials, as well prototyping platforms that allow artists and designers to create digital interactive objects or environments.
Price: $10, children ages 1-12 $8, children under 1 free.
