NLRPD goes door to door to deter crime | Crime
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- On Monday February 20, 2012 beginning at 8:00 A.M. North Little Rock Police will be going to numerous houses in the Levy area to educate citizens on preventing crime. This initiative is due to numerous incidents where citizens continue to not secure their vehicles or property and are victims of thefts.
The main focus of this imitative is to educate citizens about how to prevent thefts. It will include handing out flyers that citizens can record serial numbers to valuable items in the hopes that if they do become a victim of a theft we are able to get this property returned to them. The NLR Police Department has seen a large increase in citizens leaving their vehicles unsecured with valuable items inside the vehicles leaving them an easy target to thefts.
The NLR Police Department will be using extra manpower to help with this project. Currently the NLR Police Dept. Property Room has numerous items that can not be claimed due to the fact that no one can provide ownership. We will have a display set up of several items including electronics that we have recovered but can not identify who the owner is.
The North Little Rock Police Department is currently taking several measures to help prevent crime in the city including surveillance of locations where suspects reside, undercover operations, patrol saturations and utilizing bait cars. We are also conducting neighborhood visits to areas that have had recent crime issues ensuring that members of the neighborhood are aware and on the lookout for any suspicious activity.
Forms for recording serial numbers are also available on our website.
