2012 Girl Scout Cookie Drop | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
When: 8 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22
Where: North Little Rock Fisher National Guard Armory
Wednesday morning, an 18-wheeler will roll into North Little Rock with our much-anticipated cookies.
National Guardsman will use forklifts to unload hundreds upon hundreds of cases from the truck. Meanwhile, troop leaders will be assigned to "cookie teams." The Thin Mint Team, for example, will direct all Thin Mint cases to a designated area.
Next, Guardsmen and troop leaders will form assembly lines - removing cases from pallets and stacking them. Finally, all of these volunteers will fill each troop's order - we have 30-plus troops - and, one by one, parents will arrive to pick up their daughters' orders.
And that's when cookie delivery begins!
Cookie proceeds allow our troops to participate in activities and programs that help them become leaders in their schools and communities. Cookie money also permits Girl Scouts to help those in need through local service projects. This year, for example, each troop used Cookie Money to participate in a bedding drive for children living at Little Rock's Our House, which offers shelter and child care for working yet homeless families.
For nearly 100 years, the Girl Scout Cookie Program has proven to be a successful tool in promoting leadership among girls, while encouraging creativity and fun.
