Police: Breaking, entering cases on rise in Indian Hills, N. Hills area

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - North Little Police have said they are seeing an increase in breaking or entering cases.

According to the department, most of the uptick is in the North Hills and Indian Hills area, and the main targets are unlocked vehicles.

Police are asking that residents make sure and remove all valuable items from their vehicles and lock them.

"It's making it very easy for individuals to come by and just check that door. And basically it's a free ticket to basically steal something," said Sgt. Brian Dedrick.

Anyone with information about these crimes can call North Little Rock Police at (501) 758-1234.

Corps promotes life jackets,water safety

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - This Friday the Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will participate in Safe Boating Council's "Wear your Life Jacket to Work Day" to promote the importance of wearing a life jacket any time you are on or near the water.

"Many Corps employees will be wearing life jackets this Friday to demonstrate how easy it is to wear," said Little Rock District Commander Col. Glen Masset.

"The tragic drowning last week on the Arkansas River just drives home the importance of not just having your life jacket in your boat, as the law requires, but actually wearing it," Masset said.

Corps statistics show that 89 percent of the people who drown were not wearing a life jacket.

"We believe that number could be significantly reduced if everyone wore one each time they were on or near the water," Masset said.
