LR Family: Fun ideas for everyone

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Here are some fun ideas from Little Rock Family.

Dino Dash and Discovery Fest at Museum of Discovery, Saturday, May 19

Luckily, you won't have to outrun any prehistoric predators at the Museum of Discovery's annual Dino Dash. But you will have to be speedy if you want to be the first to arrive at the post-event street festival near the museum.

Families will run in a 5K or participate in the 1K fun run/walk to help support the science and technology center; 100 percent of the registration fees and proceeds from the festival go to benefit the Museum of Discovery's statewide educational programs. Even those who don't run can enjoy the free Discovery Fest from 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Families can watch science demonstrations, have their faces painted, play games, make crafts and more.

NLR woman charged with 1st degree murder

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Authorities said Cheryl Brewer called 911 after allegedly shooting her husband with a handgun.

"We did find Mr. Brewer inside deceased," said Sergeant Brian Dedrick with North Little Rock Police Department.

Authorities said it happened October 14, 2011 at a home in the 11-thousand block of Highway 165 with the couple's two children, then ages 3 and 6 in the house.

Sergeant Dedrick says they sent the case to prosecutors to determine whether charges were necessary. He says it is unknown whether Brewer acted in self-defense.

"At this point I don't see in our system where it shows domestic violence where we had been called," said Sergeant Dedrick.

Brewer's husband, Charley Brewer, later died in the hospital. Officers reportedly found a handgun on scene. No charges had been filed until now.
